Tor Browser

Free

Triple-encrypted, multi-hop traffic for truly anonymous browsing

Open Source No Ads No Tracking No Sign-up Cross-platform

A Firefox-based browser that relays your traffic through volunteer-run nodes with three layers of encryption, hiding your location and identity. Blocks tracking and fingerprinting by default, and reaches censored sites.

Why we picked it

Tor Browser is the last line of defense against surveillance and censorship. Your traffic passes through at least three random relays, each hop encrypted, so no single point knows both who you are and what you're viewing. It's maintained by the nonprofit Tor Project and fully open source.

It trades a little speed for anonymity, but for journalists, activists, and anyone who cares about privacy, it's irreplaceable. Works out of the box — no signup, no payment.
